Oaklands Wolves are delighted to welcome Claire Abbott to the 2023/24 Women’s League team for the second time!

The 5’7 Canadian guard re-joins the Wolves after making her professional debut with the franchise back in 2019. Since then Abbott enjoyed seasons with Gloucester City as well as most recently with Manchester Mystics. In an injury disrupted season, the sharp shooter still managed to contribute 8.5 points per game and 2.5 assists.
On her return head coach Lee Ryan had this to say “So happy to be bringing Claire back to the Wolves! It’s a full circle moment for her. She returns to us with more experience and knowledge of the league, as well as bringing back her infectious character and great enthusiasm for the women's game. It’s going to be extra special this year as I get to mentor Claire as a coach as she leads our academy program alongside playing.”
Claire had this to say “I feel very privileged to be returning to Oaklands, and honoured to be trusted to be part of the academy coaching staff too. I love this program, it’s an organisation that prides itself on individual player development and my playing and coaching style will compliment this completely. I’m excited to be working with Coach Ryan again, I know he will help me learn and grow as both a player and coach and guide me to being the best version of myself.”
