Wolves' men are still in search of their third league win of the season following a 92-71 loss at Loughborough Riders, on Saturday.
The home side scored the final ten points of the game to give the scoreline a lopsided look, but Thomas Baker's side only led briefly at the start of the game and were outscored in all four periods.
Jordan Santiago led Wolves' scoring against his old club, hitting four triples in his 26 points and adding six rebounds in 33 minutes. AJ Roberts finished with another double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds as well as dishing out four assists and blocking two shots to cement his place in the Division One top three in the latter category. Obi Egbunike missed a double-double by a single rebound, scoring 11 points, but the hosts did a good job on Kane Daley, limiting him to eight points.
Jonas Dieterich and Greg Wild led a balanced Riders' offence with 17 points apiece, the former adding ten rebounds, with Harrison Gamble chipping in with 15 points and Kyle Jimenez finishing with 14 points and nine assists.
Gamble and Roberts exchanged baskets to open the game before Santiago swished a triple and a Roberts free-throw kept Wolves ahead by a point after 94 seconds. But Gamble converted a pair at the foul line to launch an 8-0 run that gave the hosts a lead they wold never surrender.
Santiago ended the tear, and despite a Nick Powdrell triple, it took a Roberts lay-up to reduce the arrears to 27-20 at the first break.
Baskets from Egbunike and Roberts made it a five point game midway through the quarter, but Riders finished the half strongly and Dieterich sent the hosts in to the locker room 46-37 ahead.
Santiago's trey made it a ten point game after 70 third period seconds, but the third quarter was controlled by Riders and although Roberts drove to the basket to cut the deficit to 16, Kanu Gulza's trey saw the home side lead 70-51 at the final break.
Santiago hit a triple to open the fourth period before Ahmed Ketiri stole the ball and scored to cut the lead to 14 and although Wild replied with a score from downtown, five straight Santiago points made it a 12-point game after two minutes of action.
Another Santiago score from the Land of Plenty took the lead back into single digits and scores from Daley and Egbunike kept Wolves in touch before Powdrell drilled another three to make it an 11-point game heading into the final four minutes.
That proved to be the final time that Wolves troubled the scorers as Gamble's triple launched a 10-0 run, and Baker's team will look to learn from the loss as they have the chance for quick-fire revenge against the Riders on Wednesday.
