Albert Dye poured in 36 points as Wolves U-14s took another big step towards the U-14 Premier play-offs with a 106-66 hammering of Barking and Dagenham Thunder, on Saturday.
Ibrahim Gariba's team head into the Christmas break in second place in East Premier with an 8-4 record and although they have played more games than the rest if the top end if the table, they look a good bet for a place in the post-season.
The hosts shaded a high-scoring first period 27-23 thanks partly to a buzzer-beating Dye triple, and they extended their advantage to 54-41 going into the locker room at half-time. They added a point to advantage in the third period before running the visitors into the ground with a 32-6 final stanza. Zac Butterworth continued his high-scoring season with a 17-point haul, a tally matched by Titouan Vimuex.
The U-16s were left to play a scrimmage after London Thunder failed to show up for the 1pm tip-off. The capital side obviously don't like traveling to Hertfordshire after also failed to show up for November's trip to Watford-based Warriors and George Walker's team will now wait to see if Basketball England award them a 20-0 win
The U-13 and U-12 boys also saw their games postponed, but they had enough time to arrange a friendly on Sunday afternoon, and a depleted older team ran out comfortable 114-33 winners.
The U-13s never looked back after a 27-9 first period, and outscored their clubmates 58-10 across the middle two quarters before the U-12s did get their offence moving in the final frame. Frank Fojit (25) and Alex Ryan (24) did the bulk of the scoring for the U-13s, with Danny Tsoutas addi9ng 14, Ted Yu 13 and Isaac Parrot 12. Leading scorer Manuel Peris was the only U-12 in double figures with 11 points.
