Harrison drains game-winner

Harrison Hague hit a game-winning three-pointer with 13 seconds on the clock as Wolves under-13 performance team defeated Ipswich 28-26 on Sunday.

The Herts Central Venue League game at Oaklands College saw a depleted Wolves team trail for most of the game, going into the first break 8-0 down. They steadily chipped away at the deficit, reducing it to 14-9 at half-time and 20-17 at the final break.

Haigh’s triple was only Wolves’ second lead of the game, and they played some great defence to hold on for the win. Sebastian Ball’s eight points led the hosts.

Wolves’ second game of the day proved to be more straightforward as they defeated East Herts Royals 57-10. The home side led 10-4 at the first break and effectively ended it as a contest with a 21-0 second period

Nestor Sharma led Wolves with 14 points, with Billy Harmer finishing with 10 points and Jeremy Akpan adding nine.

There was a first victory of the season for the under-13 girls as they beat a Wolves Select side 26-25, guest player Alex Ryan finishing with 16 points. Wolves U-14 development side also won for the first time as they beat a Wolves U-12/13 team 52-21. Finally, a mixed Wolves U-14/16 NBL side defeated Wolves U-16 development 87-34.
