Mixed weekend for boys

There were mixed results for Wolves two boys’ NBL teams at the weekend.

The U-16s took the local bragging rights with a 56-30 home hammering of West Herts Warriors while the U-14s wrapped up their season with a 73-68 loss against Kent Crusaders on the main court at Oaklands.

Warriors were held to single digit scoring in all four periods as Adam Pearce’s side built on a 16-7 first period lead to go into the locker room 33-16 ahead at half-time. An 11-8 third period effectively ended the game as a contest before the visitors were outscored 12-6 in the final frame.

Daniel Kostadinov led Wolves with 19 points and five rebounds, with Lanre Pratt finishing with an 11 point, ren rebound double-double. Milic Pavic had an impressive eight assists to go with his seven points and four boards as Wolves moved a step closer to a sealed a top half finish in the East Premier table.

Meanwhile ,19 points and eight rebounds from Jacob Edrupt weren’t enough to prevent the U-14s seeing their season end with a home loss against Crusaders.

Wolves raced into a 23-17 first period lead but that was as good as it got for Jack ??? team as the visitors took a 43-40 lead into the half-time break, and then outscored them by a single point in each of the remaining quarters.

Otis Lau-Johnston added 14 points, six boards, four steals and as many assists while Seth Coetzee wrapped up the campaign with an 11-point, 16-rebound double-double.
