Wolves under-13 premier team made a successful start to the season with a 107-36 home victory against Stevenage Royals, on Sunday. Liam McSchertal led the scoring 18 while Titouan Viameux added 17, with Alex Ryan, Dylan Maisey, Albert Dye and Eriko Brakollari all finishing with 12 points for Ibrahim Garbia's team.
There was also success for both of Wolves’ U-16 National League sides over the weekend with a pair of big home victories.
Daniel Kostadinov had another big game as he poured in 32 points and added four rebounds in a 98-50 hammering of Brixton Topcats, on Saturday.. Dontel Rose added 12 points and Josh Brooks 10 as Wolves built on a 23-14 first period lead to take a 47-28 lead into the locker room at half-time. The press put in by stand-in coach Michael Ball caused havoc at the start of the second half and Wolves hit nine straight points to effectively end the contest, and they went into the final break 78-43 ahead before winning the fourth quarter 20-7.
Tor Freeman’s girls’ team continued their unbeaten season with a 72-40 victory against Kingston Lions the following lunchtime. The hosts never looked back after a 14-5 first period, and took a 39-19 lead into the half-time break. Lions edged a tight third period 13-12 without ever looking likely to trouble the hosts before Wolves wrapped things up with a 21-8 final quarter.
Paris Tyson led Wolves with 15 points and two rebounds, while Caitlin Ryan went eight-from-nine at the foul line on the way to 13 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Lilith Harkness had ten points and four boards while Maliya Lawal finished with seven rebounds to go with her three points.
Finally there was disappointment for the U-14 boys as they 102-35 at Baltic Stars, on Saturday.
The visitors never recovered from a 27-7 first period, despite an improved second quarter which saw them edged out 18-17. The second half, however, saw the London Lithuanian side outscore them 57-11 to collect the victory.
Max Plagemann and Sebastian Ball each scored eight points while Ricky Amrani pulled down 12 rebounds and Pau Biecas Cervantes collected eight.
