Third time lucky for U-13 boys

It was third time lucky for Wolves U-13 prem team as they defeated Wolves U-14 Development B 62-54, on Sunday.

The older Oaklands team had won the previous meetings by six and three points, but led by Zac Butterworth's 19 points and the return of coach Ibrahim Gariba, the younger side were good value for their victory.

Albert Dye added nine point and Alex I eight, with Liam Schertal and Ethan Chung each finishing with six for the U-13s. The younger side started well, but despite three straight Butterworth baskets it was the U-15 side who took a 16-14 lead into hte first break. Gariba's plea for better defence paid off in the second period as they held the U-15s to six points, with six different players getting on the scoresheet as the U-13s took a 26-22 lead into the half-time break

That lead was whittled down to four going into the fourth period but the return of the starters saw the U-13s extend their advantage 12 with three minutes to go, and they held on down the stretch to wrap up the win.

There U-16/17 continued their good run as they hammered Cambridge Cats 56-15, outscoring the visitors 44-4 across the final three period after a tight opening quarter, before beating Stevenage Royals 57-16 in a game where they outscored the visitors 21-0 in the first frame.
