Wolves U-13 boys performance team showed off their new kit and continued their winning streak against teams from their own age group with another pair of victories, on Sunday.
Shooting shirts and hoodies were provided by The Od Groupand Wolves certainly christened their new gear in style with an 88-42 victory against Brentwood Leopards followed by a 63-40 win versus West Herts Warriors.
After a slow start against Leopards, five quick substitutions from coach Ibrahim Gariba saw Wolves take control, and they went into the first break with an 18-6 lead which grew to 43-20 at half-time.
An even third period saw the teams share 32 points before the hosts wrapped things up with a 17-6 final frame. Titouan Vimeaux led Wolves with a season-high 29 points, with Albert Dye adding 11 and Ethan Chung and Zac Butterworth each chipping in with ten.
Wolves looked to be heading for a similar victory against Warriors as they rushed into a 17-8 first break lead. But the visitors fought back to narrow the gap to 33-26 at half-time and got within four points early in the second half before a Gariba timeout settled things as the hosts went into the final break 47-32 ahead and completed the win with a 16-8 four quarter.
Vimeaux continued his good day with 17 points, Liam Schuertal adding ten while Chung and Max Parker had six apiece and Rocky Starr five.
The Glencar sponsored NBA (No Boys Allowed) competition returned to Oaklands earlier in the day, with Wolves U-13 girls suffering a pair of heavy defeats.
George Walker's team never recovered from a poor start against Southend as they went down 46-14.
They trailed 18-4 at the first break and although they kept the visitors down to 24-10 at half-time a 16-6 third period effectively wrapped up the win for Scorpions before they held the hosts scoreless in the final frame.
Lois Levenston scored 12 of Wolves' points, with Isabelle Reed netting the other basket.
After Scorpions had beaten Ipswich 51-22 to seal the day's to place, Wolves retuned to the court and lost 49-19 against Ipswich.
The visitors led 10-2 at the first break and extended the lead to 22-6 at half-time. It was 30-10 at the final break before Ipswich won the fourth period 19-9 to wrap up the win. Levenston finished with four points, while Wana added three.
It was a contrasting day for the U-13 Dev A as they beat Stevenage Royals 38-20 before losing a thriller against Ipswich girls 44-42 - missing a game tying shot in the last second.
