Wolves U-14 girls recorded back-to-back victories for the first time this season as they beat Northamptonshire Titans 62-47, on Saturday.
Led by Chloe Chan's 24 points, Ibrahim Gariba's team overcame a slow start to win their fourth league game of the campaign. Lucy Conlan added 14 points and captain Sophie Walsh 12.
The visitors scored the first six points before Chan's pair at the free-throw line got Wolves moving, and Conlan launched an 8-2 run to send the home side into the first break 18-12 ahead.
Jordin Owolabi opened the second period scoring as Wolves added six unanswered points, and scores from Chan and Conlan gave Wolves a 38-24 lead going into the locker room.
An 8-0 run midway through the third period saw the lead extended to 21, effectively ending the game and Eva Binnington send Wolves into the final break leading 58-37 before Gariba was able to run his bench in the fourth quarter.
That proved to be the only NBL win for Wolves over the weekend, and a disappointing performance from the U-16 girls saw their play-off hopes take a dive with a 52-43 home loss against CoLA Southwark Pride.
Wolves trailed 14-12 at the first break before a poor second period saw them go into the locker room 31-24 down at half-time. A better third period aw the deficit closed to 41-37 but a dismal final frame saw Pride close out the win and Tor Freeman's side now need to win the rest of their games and hope a couple of key games go in their favour.
Caitlin Ryan led the Wolves' scoring with 16, with Paris Tyson adding eight, lily Harkness seven and Tamia Windless and Tiff Tyson six apiece.
The U-14 boys also saw their play-off hopes hit with an 82-64 loss at London Thunder, despite a 20 point, five rebound and five steal haul from Otis Lau-Johnston.
The hosts raced into a 26-19 lead and extended it 45-30 at half-time. A 23-16 third period in favour of Thunder ended the game as a contest before Wolves won the last frame 18-11.
