U-16 boys on fire in cup

Wolves U-16 boys powered their way into the National Cup third round with a 111-23 hammering of Cambourne Falcons, on Sunday.

The home side poured in the first 19 points and led 29-2 at the first break before doubling that advantage to 59-5 at half-time. A 28-4 third period made it 87-9 going into the final break before Wolves took their foot off the gas in teh fourth period.

Daniel Kostadinov continued his fine start to the season with 27 points and five steals while Landre Pratt had a massive 18 point, 18 rebound double-double. Josh Brooks also had 18 points, adding four rebounds and three steals, while Scott Robson-Smith added nine points.

Adam Pearce's team will travel to Cambridge in the third round.


Kostadinov 's 22 point haul the previous day wasn't enough to prevent Wolves going down 77-57 at Haringey.

The hosts led 21-18 at the first break befoe the teams shared 32 second period points. But the third quarter proved to be Wolves' Achiles heal as they were outscored 22-13 before the home side wrapped things up with an 18-10 final stanza.

Milic Pavic added nine points and Pratt seven points for stand-in coach Ibrahim Gariba's team.

There was also disappointment for the U-14 boys as they lost 77-31 at Ipswich one Saturday morning.

The home side rushed into a 13-6 first period lead and were 37-14 ahead at half-time. A 21-13 third period effectively ended the game before Ipswich wrapped things up with a 19-4 final quarter.

Wolves were led by Otis Lau-Johnston's 12 points while Pau Biescas-Coatzee pulled down seven rebounds.
